Overview
Little Word Lab (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates littlewordlab.com. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
Our site is designed to be used by parents, caregivers, and teachers who are helping young children learn to read. We do not ask children to create accounts, log in, or submit information to us.
Information we collect
Information you give us
If you contact us through our contact form or by email, we receive whatever you choose to send — typically your name, your email address, and the content of your message. We use this only to reply to you.
If you purchase or download an ebook, we receive the information needed to complete that transaction, including your email address and billing details. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our web server and analytics tools record technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, the pages you view, the time and date of your visit, and the page that referred you to us.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our third-party partners use them to remember your preferences, understand how the site is used, and — where permitted — to serve advertising.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can manage your consent choices at any time through our Opt-out preferences page. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from reading the site.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and where visitors get stuck. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects the technical information described above. We use this data in aggregate; we do not attempt to identify individual visitors. You can opt out across all sites using Google’s browser add-on.
Advertising
We display advertising through Google AdSense to keep the site free. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads. Where personalized advertising is permitted and you have consented, ads may be based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
You can manage Google’s advertising cookies through Google’s Ads Settings, and you can opt out of personalized advertising from participating vendors through the industry opt-out pages operated by the Network Advertising Initiative and the Digital Advertising Alliance.
Children’s privacy
We take children’s privacy seriously. This site is intended to be used by adults — parents, caregivers, and teachers — who are supporting a child’s reading. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Children do not need to register, log in, or provide any information to use the word pages, lists, or quizzes. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
How we use information
- To respond to messages you send us
- To deliver and support ebook purchases
- To understand how the site is used and improve the content
- To display advertising and measure its performance
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse

Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us run the site — our hosting provider, analytics provider, advertising partner, email service, and payment processor — and only to the extent they need it to perform that service. We may also disclose information where required by law.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent you previously gave. Residents of California and of the European Economic Area and United Kingdom have specific rights under the CCPA/CPRA and the GDPR respectively.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
Data retention
We keep contact messages for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. Purchase records are kept as long as required for tax and accounting purposes. Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in Google Analytics.
Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections, to protect information in transit and at rest. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other sites
Our pages sometimes link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the bottom of this page. Material changes will be noted clearly.
